Guatemala's goods and Bads:)

7 Legit Reasons you SHOULDN'T move to Guatemala:

  1. Because money is scarce and their government is corrupt, Guatemala has a high rate of crime. If you do live here it would be putting yourself in risk. Criminal strike everyday in Guatemala.                                                                                                   ( crime scene )
  2. Guatemala has been know to have big problems with many people getting Malaria infection. Also in the rainy season the Dengue fever spreads a lot by the Aedes mosquito. Guatemala has many other health concerns besides these. There are many stray dogs in Guatemala which means rabies is another big problem.
  3. Hurricanes occur quite often in Guatemala. Most of the hurricanes, along with other tropical storms, happen between June to November. Their biggest hurricane was in 1998 which left a large amount damage. This hurricane, Hurricane Mitch, left 8,000 missing and 11,000 dead.                                                                              (sink hole from hurricane.)
  4. Maintenance concerns in Guatemala can be an issue. Many rental cars break down because of bad maintenance work on them.Their public buses, also known as chicken buses, are old and warn out buses from America. A chicken bus, in 2011, crashed into a ravine, which killed 14 people (they were not tourists).                                           (chicken bus)
  5. The traffic in Guatemala is very dangerous and reckless. Accents happen all the time. A newspaper reported two car that happened within 12 kilometers of each other. Their roads are very curvy, they have narrow lanes, and sharp curves. Its not safe at all to walk beside the roads or there's a big chance of you getting hit by a vehicle.    (street traffic)
  6. Many cases of stomach pain take place because of all the unclean water. Guatemala does have tap water, but is not clean or sanitary. The pipes that carry the water are old and some can even have lead, bacteria or parasites inside them. Drinking bottled water is the best choice.
  7. Numerous amounts of people don't go outside after dark because of so many gang issues happening in certain parts of Guatemala. War zones can irrupt at any time if rival gangs get together. In August, 2010, at least 50 people were murdered within two days due to these gangsOn an average, atleast four murders happen every weak from different gangs.                                                                                                      (men from a gang.)                                                                                   (passengers on a bus passing by a crime scene from a gang.)
